This week, we sat down for our annual wine tasting with Adam from Le Verre Gourmand and had a good old chat about our wine menu… here’s how it went…
As our lovely guests will know…
We serve a wide selection of free-flowing wines in our luxury catered chalets. We always strive for a good balance of different varieties on our menu, because when it comes to wine we know people have very different tastes – one wine does definitely not fit all – so we try to cater to all palates while complimenting each dish we serve.
Why do we exclusively use Le Verre Gourmand?
With over 300 beautifully crafted wines in stock, they know great wine, and they know us (and our standards) very well, which is handy. Adam has been a partner at the company for the last 5 years and has an extensive background in the world of wine, as well as the catered chalet experience. So who better to show off this year’s new selection!
They’re always on the lookout for new and exciting wines. Continually improving the list of wines they offer. And always looking to offer clients more and better services. This year, they’ve produced a range of online tutorials and wine tasting videos for their clients. Plus their new sommelier service gives wine lovers easy access to the best of the best – all waiting for them upon arrival in the Alps. See here for details.
Le Verre Gourmand also now operate in the UK! So you can stock up on your favorite chalet wines even when you’re back home by visiting their UK website –WeAreThirsty.co.uk. Enter the voucher code ‘THIRSTY10’ for a special Mountain Spaces £10 off your first order.*
This year’s selection…
Adam said he had a few surprises for us up his sleeve this year. And he wasn’t kidding.
In the interests of fairness, we tested them all, comparing them to our existing wine list and making notes.
There were many great wines that stood out, but in the end we made the decision that there were two in particular we simply couldn’t ignore.
Our new friends for winter 16/17…
- Gran Fabrica “Crianza” – We’ve been stocking a great Gran Fabrica variety for the last few years, the Gran Fabrica “Gran Reserva”. It’s been an absolute hit with our guests. The new “Crianza” carries all the same lovely full bodied fruit and spice flavours as the “Gran Reserva” but is just a bit more chilled out than it’s super-serious oaky namesake making it all the easier to slip into a bottle at the end of a big day.
- Les Cinq Sources Cuvée Philippe – Le Verre Gourmand’s very own white blend is the result of what they describe as ‘hard work’ but sounds to us like standing around in a winery waggling a glass in the air. The result of all this blending, re-blending and tweaking to reach perfect formula is the Cuvée Philippe. Bringing together aromatic Viognier, zesty Colombard and trusty Chardonnay to form a rich, round and harmonious wine experience.
It’s really important for us to have great wine on our menus at all times. That’s why we exclusively use Le Verre Gourmand and why we’re proud to welcome these two onto our winter 16/17 menu.
Hope you enjoy trying these two beauties this season!
