Downhill Mountain Biking

Morzine and Les Gets have been at the centre of European mountain biking for well over a decade and have an established, well maintained network of lifts and trails for novice and experienced bikers to explore.

Downhill and freestyle riding

The Portes do Soleil lift network opens up in the summer from early June to September to allow access to a massive and riding area.

Within Les Gets, Morzine and Chatel you have access to:

18 Downhill specific courses

5 North Shore areas

Fourcross tracks

Freeride and slopestyle course

Foam pits/Air bags

Jump park

Beginners Downhill course

Beginners jump park

All of these routes and areas are well marked and maintained, in addition there are untold numbers of secret trails hidden in the valleys and pine trees waiting to be discovered.

Bikes

If you plan to use the lifts and ride the downhill trails all day you really need at least 6 inches of suspension travel back and front on a well built freeride/downhill oriented bike.

We can help with a range of hire bikes including specialised downhill bikes.

Equipment

Below is a list of the basic equipment you should consider taking with you when you are riding downhill/freeride. Some areas will not let you ride without adequate body armour.

 - Knee/shin armour

 - Gloves

 - Pump/spare inner tubes

 - Rucksack

 - First aid kit

 - Water

 - Mobile phone

This list is not comprehensive and is intended a guide only, a range of bike repair tools is also worth carrying.
