Mountain Spaces is a small independent family business owned and run by Kate and Chris Lawler, located in the stunning town of Morzine, part of the Portes du Soleil ski area in the Northern French Alps.
Established with one chalet in 2008, we’ve spent each season since carefully perfecting our menus, picking the best chalets the friendliest chalet hosts and the most dedicated staff to add to our team.
Running Mountain Spaces is still a lifestyle as much as a business for us and getting on with a friendly, happy group of people who happen to work for us is as important as employing people with the right experience. Happy staff means happy guests, while a talented but grumpy and unsociable chef does not, a chalet host make.
Our staff will always have had customer-facing experience in cafes, bars or restaurants, they will often but not always have had professional culinary experience and they will always, always be happy smiley, interesting people.
Anyone who has been on a catered skiing holiday will know that the need for a great location, an awesome luxury chalet and top notch cuisine goes without saying but it is the chalet hosts who really make a holiday. A fact that is not lost on us.
Morzine is a vibrant small town that includes the resort of Avoriaz 1800. Morzine is packed with small independent tour operators like Mountain Spaces and the lack of the big travel companies gives Morzine a laid back easy going rhythm with many loyal guests returning year after year for, quite literally decades.
The town has a large enough selection of bars and restaurants to keep returning guests, seasonaires and those of us lucky enough to live here all year entertained but still keeps that small town feel where you can get to know your way round and get to know the bar staff and locals.
The Portes du Soleil ski area is one of the largest in the world with over 650km of linked, pisted runs. There’s something for everyone, from kids fun parks to the ‘Coupe de Monde’ black run on a stunning exposed ridge over Avoriaz.
Mountain Spaces is perfect for all types of winter holiday makers attracting a wide variety of guests from groups of friends and young professionals, large family groups to single travellers looking for a sociable and friendly place to stay with like minded people.
Over fifty percent of our clients are either returning guests or guests who have booked our luxury chalets solely on a word of mouth recommendation from friends or family which we hope, means we are sticking to the principles we had when we launched the company.
Since 2008 we have grown slowly, expanding only when it’s the right time to do so making sure that we stay true to our reasons for starting the company in the first place. As well as building on our past successes we’re also always looking to offer our returning guests something new to look forward to.

All of our chalets are unique in their own way, all are built to the highest standards and each is run by a dedicated, friendly, professional chalet couple.
We never stop working to improve, whether it be a new chalet, a new service, new wines, new dishes for the menu we won’t be happy unless we’re offering you the best we can deliver.
